Gamer Gab: Costume Quest I & II

This game has CHANGED MY LIFE. Dear god, I love it so so much. I haven't loved a video game so much since Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon....and I love me some paying off debt and farming. Basically, you run around as little trick or treater kids and fight monsters. It is fantastic. I beat the first game in like a day and a half. I am in the middle of the second game now and it is a little more challenging than the first so it is taking me longer...which I like. I never want it to end!
   
So now I am scouring the web for cool Costume Quest stuff. I came across this comic by Zac Gourman, and immediately fell in love. This is such a cute story based on the game. I love how he re imagined the characters and their thoughts and feelings, I also really love his art style. You can read a really great interview with him here.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves cute things and adventure type games. I would say it is not nearly as hard as Zelda, but not as laid back as Animal Crossing. If any of you have played it or want to, I'd love to talk more about it...as you can see I am a tad obsessed.

I love package design. I get all bubbly and excited when I see a cool design. We did a project in one of my design classes where we had to create a package design based off of a place we once lived. I am always hunting down design inspiration, so I thought I'd share some of the pretty packaging I have found around the internet.

Tattoorary Temporary Tats

Wilma from Tattoorary was so sweet and sent me some of her adorable temporary tattoos. I want a real one sooo badly, but I am a very anxious person. I loved trying these out, it made me feel more ready to commit to a lifelong one. I got many compliments on them and most people thought they were real.



Derek gave floral a chance and put one on his wrist.



He insisted on these psychotic poses so do not ask me to explain them.....He says "real men wear floral."


I really like the way I look with tattoos, they add an extra oomphf to any outfit. I will seriously be looking into getting some one day. If any of you know of a good tattoo artist near the Detroit area, please let me know! In the meantime, I will be doing my research.

This dress has definitely become one of my go to dresses this summer. I never imagined I would love this peachy coral color so much. I am started to be more adventurous with color and I am really enjoying it. No more black and gray for me....well yeah I'll still wear black and gray.

July Birchbox

I just love how colorful each Birchbox is. I cannot even bring myself to throw them away. I have 2 sitting almost an arm's reach away from me right this very second. With that, I almost cancelled my subscription to Birchbox (again), and right when I was saying to myself that this would be the last box...they would send me one that was so amazing I just couldn't do it. I think this one was kinda 50/50 for me. It was still worth the $10 though.


I am suuuuper excited to try this out. I need something like this for my flat hair.


I tried this out today, mehh. I feel kinda weird about anti aging eye treatments. I am always afraid I am going to be allergic and my eye is going to puff up.


When I saw this bronzer I was immediately happy with this box. I LOVE the Balm and their packaging soooo much. The Stila lipstick/stain I am not so sure about. I am not to keen on the color and it seems kinda gumpy.


I tried the bronzer out today and it works really well with my skin tone. I was just thinking that I need to try and wear bronzer too. Birchbox, get outta my head!

Stuff I Luff #92

These are the cutest wedding invites I have ever seen. Look at their little cheeks!


This shop has so many cool necklaces, but this little fishie is my favorite. It makes me think of Darla from Finding Nemo.

I frickin love tea steepers that are shaped as cool things. This one is extra cool.

Blanche was always so saucy and I loved her. This necklace is so funny and awesome. I would love to wear her near my heart.

Outfit: I HATE this color

Yeah so I hate or I guess I should say hated this color. It is a weird mix of blue and purple that always has made my eyes sting. My best friend Michal loves this color and wears it on the regular so I decided to give it a chance. Guess what guys, I love this color now. I feel like it makes my hair color pop.


I was just reading Sara's blog and she was talking about how she feels like it is harder to put together outfits in the summer. I totally agree. I feel like I am swapping out dresses and keeping the shoes and accessories the same. Buuuuut, I am pretty darn comfortable.

I think one thing that really helped me like the color of this dress was the fit. It is suuuper stretchy and comfy and it fits like a "fit and flare" dress which is my favorite kind of dress. I like having a little extra tummy room to eat a lot, haha.

Rant: Doctor's visit

*Heads up this is about to be a rant post*
 I started feeling really sick yesterday and ended up leaving work to go to urgent care. I explained to the doctor how I was feeling: stuffy, congested, runny nose, ears hurting, out of it, it felt like time was going by in chunks, and I couldn't concentrate.  She responded, "Do you have mental illness? I can treat you for the sinus but for mental you have to go to a different doctor."

Isn't that rude? I wasn't acting crazy or anything. It made me feel even worse than I already felt and I almost started crying. I'm never going back to that urgent care again. She wanted to prescribe me nasal spray and Claritin. I had to ask her to give me an antibiotic because I knew it wasn't going to get any better with that. Also, I just spent $30 for her to hardly even examine me. She didn't even look at my ears, which usually get infected first when I get sick.

I've never had this bad of an experience in urgent care, so hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Stuff I Luff #91

Tank Girl is one of my all time favorite movies. Happy Rose has so many cute things, this one is my favorite though.

Design Stuff//Hairstylist Business Card

I had so much fun doing this design for my friend Jessica. She wanted a vintage-y style with a classy twist. I wanted so badly to load it up with floral, but she isn't as much of a floral lover as I am. I am very happy with how it came out though, and it was very good practice with the pen tool for me.


I love creating little icons, and I especially liked making these because they are so vintage-y and cute. I think I've even reused a few since be because I love them so much.


They are so small on the card, meant to be more of a background pattern than icons per say.


I even made her a cute stamp in case she ever wants to stamp something...or everything. I love stamps, especially personalized ones. Plus, this stamp inks itself soooooo that makes it 10000x awesomer.

Tales From the Thrift//The Coat Aisle

This one on the left felt so disgusting. It literally looked like the underneath part of a mushroom...except black. The floral one on the right would be cuter if it were a pattern on a dress. I just love floral though.


I could not even hold still with this Native American fake fur jacket thing on. I was laughing so hard. The fur one on the right though....I'd probably actually wear that, too bad it wasn't my size.

Outfit: Windy Cindy

Michigan really needs to get it's junk together. It was so windy and rainy the day we took these photos. Luckily it rained after we left. It will be 80 degrees one day and the next day it is 60 degrees and hailing. I assure you that what they say about Michigan weather is absolutely true.


I cannot get enough of this fox necklace. I feel like I wear it every other day. It literally goes with any outfit.

Since I work at Starbucks, I get to try all the new drinks and flavors before everyone else. The new drinks coming your way are  gonna be delicious...just sayin.


You can kinda tell how windy it was in this photo. Next time I'll just have to embrace the wind. I was getting so frustrated because I tried to curl my hair and the wind got rid of it almost instantly. Michiganders just have to embrace it, ya know?


I feel like I am constantly wearing these shoes. They are the comfiest and I love how they are a mixture of tennis shoes and oxfords. I wish they weren't discontinued, I would buy them in more colors. I had to hunt these down online.

Life//Art School

So I am currently going to school for my bachelors of fine arts degree with a concentration in graphic design. We have to do such weird projects that sometimes end up being something pretty cool. For this specific project we had to pick an musical artist and describe them with 4 adjectives. Then we had to find various images in magazines and books that fit into the 4 categories. Then we had to do like a bazillion collages with them. My teacher calls them "mondo collages." At the end of the millions and millions of collages we had to do (all in photoshop, mind you), we had to then use the collages to create a cd design for the artist of our choice. I chose Kate Nash and my adjectives were crazy, feminine, retro, and colorful.


A lot of my collages had animals puking various things. My professor made fun of me for that a lot.


The script font is Wolf in the City and the sans serif font is Univers.


Some of my collages ended up so weird looking. Let's all take a gander at that flower monster with boobs for eyelashes, shall we?

I have found that sometimes you cannot be afraid of making something that is crazy or weird looking, especially with art and design. I love that I can take risks in my school work, the experimentation is what helps you learn the most.
